29 Sleep Facts That Will Change How You Think About Bedtime

  23. NASA reports that the perfect nap lasts 26 minutes. I know they mean in terms of making you a more productive person, but I have to disagree. My perfect nap last 2-3 hours.
  24. You spend roughly 75% of your night’s sleep in NREM sleep.
  25. During REM sleep, your brain releases chemicals to keep you from acting out your dreams.
  26. On the topic of REM sleep, it helps you with problem-solving. So, if you are working to solve a problem, try sleeping on it.
  27. According to Harvard, using your phone before bed can impact how well you sleep.
  28. Believing you slept well, even if you really didn’t, can improve your performance.
  29. Contrary to popular opinion, you can’t make up lost sleep in the long run.
