CBD And The Body: 3 Ways CBD Oil May Provide A Boost

In the age of Covid-19, we are all looking for ways to help our bodies. With flu season right around the corner, many are wondering if using CBD oil could help their immune system.

What is CBD oil?

Cannabinoid (CBD) is a byproduct of the Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) plant. Unlike THC, it is not psychotic but may be beneficial for the immune system. After extraction of CBD from the hemp plant, it is diluted with another edible oil, also known as a carrier oil. A commonly used carrier oil is grape seed oil. The diluted mixture is called CBD oil.

In 2017, the World Health Organization declared CBD oil with less than 0.3% THC as a non-addictive natural oil.

How CBD interacts with the Immune System?

A recent study by the Department of Neurology in Colentina Hospital suggests that CBD oil may be useful in maintaining a good state of the immune system. CBD may do this by activating the Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid 2 (TRPV2) protein, a protein necessary for maintaining a healthy immune system.

1.    CBD may boost the number of natural killer cells

According to the Polish researchers, CBD may boost immunity by increasing the activity of lymphocytes (WBCs) in an organ affected with autoimmunity. CBD may slow down the virus proliferation by limiting the activities of lymphocyte T and lymphocyte B (natural killer) cells in the affected organs.

2.    CBD for a peaceful night’s sleep

Viruses exist in many different types, some of them are as dangerous as the novel coronavirus, and others are of the kind that causes common cold and cough. Whatever the case, one always needs to get plenty of sleep during the virus season. The lack of sound sleep may cause a moral breakdown, lethargy, and whatnot.

CBD oil has a role to play here too. CBD oil is a potential treatment for people who are very restless while they try to sleep. A study by the University of Colorado also backs this up.

3.   CBD and joint pain.

According to the Arthritis Foundation, CBD oil may also help manage joint pain and arthritis pain. CBD is believed to act on the CB1 and CB2 receptors of the Endocannabinoid System in the human body to reduce pain.

How to use the CBD oil

Now that you know the positive effects CBD oil may have on the body, you may be ready to try it out. Here are some ways you can take CBD oil for yourself.

  • Place a few drops underneath your tongue. This is the fastest way to benefit from this oil.
  • You can also use the CBD oil locally as massaging oil. Rub slowly on the areas affected by acute joint or muscle pain. This is also great for CBD balms.
  • For those of you who can wait for the effects to kickstart your immune systems, go for CBD oil in soft gel form.

Things to remember before purchasing your first CBD oil:

  • Always choose a trusted seller for your every purchase. What’s a trusted seller? The one who provides transparency with third-party lab results for their products.
  • Make sure your CBD oil contains no or very low THC, less than 0.3%.
  • Always start your dosing by consulting a doctor.
  • Don’t rush your doses; start slow and low. With time, you can increase your amounts as per your needs.
